Great Start!

Hi, it was wonderful meeting many of you last week at Meet the Teacher Night! It is always nice to put a face to a name, especially ones that are important in the lives of the students. Here is a brief overview of what we have learned so far this year and where we are headed this month.

September:
Math we focused on number patterns how they grow, shrinkk or repeat.
Literacy we began looking at some of the comprehension strategies we use while reading and began learning how to write a descriptive paragraph.
Social Studies we began our unit on the Physical and Political regions of Canada.

Our Focus for October includes:
Math building, writing and reading numbers up to 100 000, adding and subtracting 4 digit numbers.
Literacy continue looking at comprehension strategies within our unit on Courage, writing descriptive paragraphs using the hamburger model.
Social Studies students are working on the inquiry based learning project on Canada that is due at the end of October. I look forward to the students presenting these projects and sharing their learning.

If at anytime you have any questions or concerns please do not hestitate to call me at the school.

Thanks and have a wonderful October!
