Captain Canuck

Today in literacy we learned about our Canadian Superhero Captain Canuck.  Justin Trudeau has been turned into our newest Canadian Superhero.  This hero believes in protecting our civil liberties at all costs?  What civil liberties would you want Mr. Trudeau to protect in his new role?  We will be creating our own superhero in the next few weeks!  Stay tuned!

Our first math unit!

We have begun our first math unit of the year.  Below is a picture of what we know about patterning.  We will be starting with the 3 main types of patterns, how to identify a pattern core and writing pattern rules.

Every student has a math textbook they can take home to practice skills learned in class. Homework is used as a review of our lesson and is an opportunity for students to check their understanding.  If your child is not “getting it” please encourage them to ask questions.  I love QUESTIONS!!

Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or concerns.

Off to a great START!!!

Well our first week is almost done and I have enjoyed getting to know each and everyone of the students.  Just a reminder our Me in a Bag presentations are tomorrow.  I’m so excited.

Below are some pics of today’s math lesson.  We were going through our math kit and discovering what is in it and what kind of math would we use each manipulative for.  Take a look!

If at any time you have any questions or concerns please call me at the school.  I look forward to meeting you all at MEET THE TEACHER on September 27 from 530 to 7.

Welcome Back!!!

I hope you all had a fabulous summer and are ready to get busy learning.  The class this is year is a 4/5 and I am excited to begin the year with many new faces.

I use this site as an opportunity to showcase student learning through out the year as well as to keep you informed of upcoming events.  It is beneficial to check back periodically, if at anytime you have any questions or concerns please do not hesitate to contact me at the school.

The students first project is due on FRIDAY.  Students have been given a paper bag to decorate that must include their name.  they are to place 5-7 items in the bag that tells something about who they are and it must include a quote that reflects their idea/philosophy of life.  They will be doing a presentation of their bag on Friday to the class.  I am looking forward to learning about your child!  As well I am sending home a parent survey about your child.  Please use this to inform me about your child. the more information I have the better I am at planning for your child this year.

Again please to not hesitate at anytime to call me at the school with any questions/concerns.

Thank you!
